Carters (2) - Round 11

Jansen helped his kids finish up their homework.  He was still in shock over how much his little girl had grown up!  She was the spitting image of her mother, he thought as he watched her finish up her work.

He had to beat the boys off with a stick.  "No dating!" Jansen had firmly told her.

"But, Dad! I love Levi!"

Jansen had been shocked.  Alvin and he had talked about how funny it would be if Levi and Jody or Evelyn and Perry had wound up falling in love... but... this was too early!  "You're still too young," Jansen told her.  "Maybe once you're done with college."

Jody rolled her eyes.

Levi glanced around to make sure her Dad wasn't around.  "I'll see you tomorrow," he said as he squished her.  "I love you!"

"I love you more," she said tenderly.

"No, I love you more!"

"I love you more!"

"Shut. Up!" Perry said across the room and threw a shoe at them.  "Gag!"

Evelyn laughed and held his hands. "I wish you didn't have to go off to college," she said.  "I should've requested to go early and then we could've gone together," she pouted.

"Don't worry. I won't forget you," Perry promised.

Jody heard Mom's car pull up.  "Everyone out the back!" she yelled as she and Perry raced to clean up the place.  Laughing, they collapsed on the couch together and pretended to be working on their homework.

Carlye walked in, floating on cloud nine.  She'd finally reached the top of the intelligence career.  Nothing could get by her!

Perry enjoyed his last breakfast at home.  Pretty soon, he was going to be a real man!

McMillans - Round 11

Chester invited a few colleagues over to chit chat about medical trivia.  The new doctor, Waylan, seemed to really know his stuff.

Chester was roused from sleep by some muted noise.  Pulling the blanket over his head, he mumbled, "Keep it down!"

"I'll show you keep it DOOOOOOOWWWWNNNNN!" Jacqueline wailed.

Chester yanked the blanket off his head and jack-knifed into a sitting position.  "Oh my God! Are you having the baby?" he yelled.

"You think, DOCTOR!" she panted.

Chester danced around the room.  "Okay. Overnight bag. Where's the overnight bag?"

Jacqueline moaned, "No time!"

Finally, his medical training kicked in and Chester proceeded to calmly help deliver his new baby boy.  "Look, he has red hair, just like my dad!" he said with a tear in his eye.  "He looks like a Lawrence, right?"

Jacquline smiled, "I think Lawrence is perfect!"

Brittany sighed as she looked at the phone.  She knew it was time to go to college. Part of her didn't want to go. She just wanted to dance! But, it was really important to Chester and Austin that she go to college.  She could always drop out if she hated it, right?

Chester hugged Brittany goodbye as she got ready to head for campus.  "You'll never regret this, sis," he told her.  "Dance will be waiting for you when you get out!"

Time flew by quickly and before he knew it, Lawrence was being potty-trained and learning to talk.  He bounced Lawrence in his arms and wished Jacqueline were home.  She'd been really busy since she accepted a secret promotion at work.  He didn't even know what she was doing.  She would just disappear to go to work and then pop up out of the blue.
He had to admit he liked the leather though...

"Will you wear that to bed tonight, sweetie?" he asked.

Steeles - Round 11

"Are you sure you're okay?" Natalie asked Lisa.

Lisa just laid on the couch and put the pillow over her head. "I feel awful," she moaned.

"Do you think you're pregnant?"

"Oh God, I hope not! I'm too old to have another baby!" Lisa worried.

Just then, Lisa sat upright and began coughing.

Natalie leaned forward to feel her head.  "You're burning up, Lisa! Go to bed before you get everyone else sick!"

"But I have to go to work..."

"To bed!" Natalie said as she pointed.

After tucking Lisa in, Natalie called up Waylan.  "Hey, baby," she said, "Are you coming over today?"

"I'll be there soon. I just have to tie up a few loose ends. You sure there's enough room for me to move in?"

"Of course!" Natalie said. "Actually, my brother Mason moves out tonight to go to college, so we can take over his old room."

Natalie held Waylan's hand as they whispered sweet nothings.  Skylar watched from across the room while rocking Brooke.  "Were we ever that annoying when we first got together?" he asked Lisa.

Lisa rolled her eyes. "God, I hope not!"  Then, her breath caught as she saw Waylan drop to one knee. "Oh my God, Skylar! Can you believe it?" she gasped, clutching his shoulder with tears in her eyes.  "He's proposing!"

Across the room, Natalie shouted, "Yes!" as she threw herself into his arms.  Skylar swung her around the room as they laughed.

They invited all their college friends.  Natalie couldn't wait to introduce her friends Tristen and Alan to all her friends back home.

And the ceremony was beautiful.  It was everything that Natalie had dreamed it would be! She looked over to Lisa, practically her mother, and saw tears in her eyes.  After the ceremony, she went to Lisa and Skylar and hugged them tight.  "Thank you guys," she cried.  "I love you both so much!"

"Shh..." Dana said in the playroom.  We're supposed to be quiet in here.  She couldn't she got stuck with babysitting duty.  Natalie promised to take her to the park later as a reward, but it stunk being treated like a little kid. She was practically a teenager... well.. in a few years anyway...  "Fine! We'll sing it again," she groused when Sharon whined "Little Lamb!"  She couldn't believe this kid didn't know her nursery rhymes yet!

After everyone was gone, Dana and Sharon were allowed out of the room.  "Cake!" Sharon yelled as she ran to the kitchen.  "Is there cake left?"

Dana rolled her eyes as all the adults remaining laughed quietly.  Sharon was so immature!

"I wanted to talk to you," Lisa said after serving pancakes the next morning. "Skylar and I have discussed it.  You're a newlywed and you really need more space.  You don't need to help raise your nieces.  We're going to be moving at the end of the week."

Natalie was floored.  "I never expected you to move Lisa! This is your house!"

Lisa patted Natalie's hand.  "It's okay. It's all of our houses. And I have Skylar and the girls.. we need more space, anyways.  This is perfect for you now."

Natalie was torn. She was a little happy that she and Waylan would have more alone time - but she would miss her family!

"Why hello, Miss... Tan," Waylan said as he pretended to check his clipboard for her name.  "You needed to see a doctor?"

Natalie tried extremely hard not to giggle, but really - Waylan brought his clipboard home and even put on his stethoscope.  "Yes, Doctor..." she cooed seductively. "I was hoping you could help me..."

Reeds - Round 11

Claire tried really hard not to be jealous of Lisa.  She wished she understood that relationship.  Walter didn't treat Lisa like an ex-girlfriend... but, more like a sister.

A sister that came over all the time...

Claire rocked her newborn, Ralph, against her chest and tried to remind herself that she was the one that Walter came home to at night.

And when she talk Charles to talk and walk, she reminded herself that she was the one raising a family with him.  Not Lisa.

Claire shook the headmaster's hand and invited him to tour the house.  "You'll find that my husband is very concerned with the children's education.  You'll find Wilbur is a very hard worker and is quite serious.  He'll be a wonderful addition to the school.  And Charles... well... he is such a bright, young man.  Although, I'm sure every Mother says that about her child!"

The headmaster smiled and followed Claire inside.

"Is this the young man you were speaking of?" he announced when he walked in.

Claire beamed at her first born.  "Yes, this is Charles."  Then, motioning to Charles, she said, "Charles, meet the headmaster. He came to see if you and Wilbur might attend Crumplebottom's Academy."

Charles smiled politely and shook hands like his Mother had taught him, then asked to be excused to go play.

Claire waved him away and continued her tour.

Later that night, Charles finished brushing his teeth and put his toothbrush away.  Wilbur knocked on the door.  "All done in there, bud?" he called.

"Done!" Charles yelled.

"Then it's tickle time!" Wilbur yelled as he rushed in and started tickling his little brother.

Charles giggled.  "Hey! Guess what!" he announced after they'd stopped. "Mom got us into private school! Isn't that great?!"

Wilbur tried to act cool. "No big deal," he said, but inside he was excited.  He couldn't wait to transfer schools! It'd be so much easier to get into college!

"Happy birthday to you!" Claire sang to Ralph on his birthday.  It was just her and Ralph this evening.  Walter and Wilbur were working and Charles had gone to bed, exhausted from playing all afternoon with a friend.

"Honey?" Walter called as he walked in. "It's time to celebrate! I hit the top of the career!  Things are going to change around here!"

And did they ever change! Wilbur loved the new addition to the house. He thought it was so interesting how the architect came in and changed their boring one story into an open two-story.  And boy, were the kids lucky with that playroom!

He got his own work space, too, though.  Claire thought it was important for them to have their own space to do homework and unwind.

Not that Wilbur spent all his time working... he liked to have a little fun, too.

"Turn that music down," Walter called down the stairs.  "That's the worst music I've ever heard. Why can't you listen to normal music?" he groused.  All the teens rolled their eyes as Wilbur went to turn the stereo down.

"Sorry Dad," he mumbled.
